I've also tried bootmgr.exe /fixmbr (and other commands), but I cannot get this dumb thing past the black screen w/mouse. I have a Rescue disk, so I've tried the "Startup Repair" (no issues found), and via the Command Line have tried sfc /scannow (initially said an repair was pending but once I got past that it's not finding any issues) and a chkdsk /f/r (which always freezes at step 4 of 5). My old Win7 desktop the other week started only booting to a plain, black screen with the mouse cursor visible (and movable), but nothing else. ![]() ![]() I'm assuming I'm probably out of most options but figured it was worth posting about.
